Behind The Lens

Hi! I’m Ben

After years working FIFO as a geologist in the mining industry, I finally decided to follow my lifelong passion for photography. While my background involved analysing rocks and finding gold, my interest has always been in capturing life's unforgettable moments. I believe that every photograph tells a story and I am dedicated to preserving those special moments that people will cherish for years to come. Welcome to my vision of photography, where science meets art and emotion, and every image is a memory in the making.

I specialise in capturing the moments that matter most—from intimate couple sessions and fun-filled family sessions to the sophistication of weddings and the excitement of engagement photoshoots. I also have a passion for surf photography, freezing the dynamic energy of the waves and the thrill of the ocean. I hope that you find a photography session that perfectly suits your vision, but if you’re looking for something a little more personalised, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. I’m here to work with you and bring your unique story to life through stunning, authentic imagery.

My Photography Style:

I grew up with a deep love for cinema. I was the kind of kid who’d pause movies just to admire a single frame—the kind that felt like it deserved a spot on my bedroom wall. Sometimes it was a moment of epic scale, like a sweeping shot from Star Wars. Other times, it was something small and human, like that unforgettable scene in Good Will Hunting where Robin Williams makes Matt Damon laugh mid-take.

That’s what I look for in my photography—those fleeting, unrepeatable moments. The ones that reveal the quirks, the connections, and the idiosyncrasies that make every couple, every family, and every individual completely unique. The kind of moments that feel a little too real to be staged—because they are.

My style? Think golden tones, warm atmospheres, and crisp, clean detail. Somewhere between the magical glow of The Lord of the Rings and the sharp precision of a Christopher Nolan film—that’s the space I love to live in.

I’ve also got a soft spot for the character of old-school film photography. There’s something about those soft edges and faded colours that modern cameras can’t quite replicate. That grainy texture brings a warmth and nostalgia that makes an image feel like a memory you’ve already lived.

Ultimately, I aim to strike a balance—light and airy, but still rich with contrast and depth. Simple, warm, cinematic. I want every photo to feel like a movie still; like your movie moment—the one you’ll want to pause and hang on your wall forever.
